The first official Twenty20 cricket match was played on June 13, 2003, between the English counties of Surrey and Warwickshire at The Oval, London. The concept of T20 cricket was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as a way to attract younger audiences and promote the game in a more fast-paced and exciting format. Since then, T20 cricket has become increasingly popular around the world, with the establishment of various domestic and international T20 leagues, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash League (BBL), and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
